Please see below a list of commonly asked questions and their answers. We strongly recommend you have a quick read through all of the below points before taking a ride.

SHIPPING

Pickup is available free of extra charges from our Heidelberg West warehouse within a working day's notice, we do usually keep a few floor stock, but it is strongly advised that you call before dropping in for pick up to avoid disappointment.

Melbourne Metro orders are delivered directly from our warehouse daily for a flat fee of $99, once an order has been placed, our sales will contact you to appoint a time for the delivery, which will generally be within 1-2 working days.

Orders to most regional Vic towns and cities are also delivered directly from our warehouse, it will generally be delivered within 2-4 working days depending on our schedule. Place an order or contact us by phone, email or use the contact form to obtain a quote and timing for the delivery as needed.

For remote towns in VIC and all other states, orders will be delivered through a courier service, the bike will generally be dispatched within 1-2 working days & will take a further 3-7 working days to get delivered depending on where you are. ABOUT OUR EBIKES

The first thing to remember is that even though ebikes have a motor, we are still talking about bicycles. They are not motorbikes. The motor will speed you up to around 30 km/h depending on a number of factors, including the load, the battery condition, the terrain and the weather.

Our industry-leading 960 Wh battery pack is rated to go up to 65 Km on a single charge under optimal conditions. The actual distance you can travel on a single charge, depends on a few factors, including the load, traffic conditions, your riding habits, the terrain and the weather.

Let's round up the high-capacity 960 Wh battery our bikes are equipped with, to 1000 Wh or 1 KWh, which costs under 30 cents during peak rates in Victoria. Obviously, if the battery isn't completely flat, the cost goes even lower.

It takes around 6 hours to fully charge the battery from flat. However the battery doesn't need to be flattened before they can be charged again. They are actually designed to be charged as often as possible. So it is advised to charge the battery whenever you can, that way it will keep the battery healthy while also giving you the confidence of knowing the eBike will have a full charge on your next trip. The charger will stop once the battery is fully charged, so you don't have to worry about overcharging the battery.

Yes. ebikes are legal. In Victoria, Vicroads regulations require eBikes or electric bicycles to have pedals and their motor producing no more than 200W output power. These conditions exempt them from registration. Conditions governing bicycles apply, so you have to wear a bicycle helmet, have reflectors, a bell and use lights at night. Fortunately all PURI eBIKEs complies with these rules, provided you bring your own helmet.

Yes, all our eBikes are fitted with passenger foot pegs and are designed to carry upto 150 Kg.

You can pedal an eBike without having the motor turned on, it will feel like a normal bicycle but heavier. When the bike is turned on, power-assisted mode will come on when you rotate the pedals, and the motor will kick in which makes pedalling a breeze.

USING, CLEANING & CARING FOR YOUR PURI eBIKE

Whilst our eBIKE is designed to be used in all weathers, it is best to store them under a roof. If you are not planning to use your bike for a while, you will still need to charge up the battery once every month or so. Fully charge the battery, then remove or disconnect the battery before putting the bike away for storage can lengthen the periodic top-up to every 3 months

  • Begin by hosing the bike down, including the wheel arches where mud and sand build up and encourage rust.
  • Use a soft foam sponge and a good quality car/bike wash detergent or a wash and wax combination.
  • Use a chamois to dry the car off when you’ve finished. This prevents unsightly soap and water stains and the chamois will pick up any small patches of dirt that may have been missed.
  • Whilst there is no regualr period servicing required for the bike, it is recommended to pump up the tires every month (to 40 PSI at a petrol station) and grease the chain every 6 months. Brake shoes and brake cables will need to be changed every 12-24 months or so, depending on how heavily they are used. The motor is sealed and air-tight, so it will not need servicing throughout its lifespan.

It is normal for the battery to slowly lose its capacity throughout its lifespan, to the point where it will not take any charge at all or that its maximun charge is not longer enough for your regular trips. This will generally take 2-4 years, depending on how they are used during its life. Please contact us for more information on replacing the battery in your bike.

In the event that you need to dispose of the battery please dispose responsibly and as you would with any battery.

CHARGING YOUR PURI eBIKE

All PURI eBIKEs come with an appropriate charger, which plugs into the charging port on the bike.

Charging should be done after each ride to ensure the battery stays healthy and would also give you the confidence of knowing the bike has a fully charge the next time you need to use it. The charger will stop charging, once the battery is fully charged, so you don't have to worry about over-charging the battery.

Depending on the terrain, load, weather, driving habit and speed, a fully charged battery will last up to around 65 Km per charge under normal situations.

The devices smart-charge technology will ensure there is no risk of overcharging.
